The dual drum tracks (with slight differences) give this a very urgent feeling, and the electronic beeping noise hints that the system might be shutting down somewhere. Something intense is happening in “Drunk Slide.” And the whimsical vibraphone isn’t helping the feeling. –and immediately after the last note of “Pariah” comes a cinematic, low, and intrusive piano riff, sinking the listener into a fight-or-flight haze. My heart is still a little sunken when I think of this album, but only based on my expectations of the trajectory that dredg seemed to be taking before the album was released (and previously leaked).
